The People Make the Club
Like Lake Wobegon, our club is filled with strong
women and good looking men. Okay, that
analogy didn’t come across right, but what I’m trying to say is that we
have a lot of high-quality people in the Minnesota Austin-Healey Club, and
it continues to be my pleasure to know them.
Last winter,
along with Curt Carlson’s RWA Midget, I kept my Sprite at Steve Rixen’s
garage near Hudson, WI. Every
Sunday morning I worshipped at what I called the “Church of the Sacred
Carburetor”, which is actually the Strictly
British car repair service that Steve runs part time out of his heated
and fully-tooled garage. I saved
many hours and avoided countless headaches, thanks to Steve’s excellent
tools and sage advice. He’s a very
patient man, and his impromptu tech sessions helped me through the tough
parts of my major suspension rebuild.
He has an amazing selection of equipment, and always has just the
right tool for the job. Working
with his compressed air tools was a real time and muscle saver. Steve is also very fair with his rates,
and his dealer status with Moss means good deals on parts.
Next winter
I’m thinking of installing high-compression pistons, a hot cam, and the
Datsun five-speed. How ‘bout it
Steve?

Pie with the President
Editor
On December 4th the Hungry Healey Hunks
again gathered for Pie & other foods at Baker’s Square in Highland
Village. Our hosts again had tables
set together for about 16 in the “back room”. There was talk about restorations, web site, the upcoming
planning meeting, the reminder that dues are due, and the latest
procurements from that fantastic medium – ebay!!
Curt
Carlson has his Spridget running and hopes to bring it home soon from the
Rixen Restoration & Relaxation Garage!
Jeff Maynard was getting his last cruises made with his recently
(Fourintune) restored 100. Dan
Walters was busy calling Texas on his cell phone. He saw an ad for a 100 parts car in one of the newsletters
from other clubs that were going around at the meeting.
A
real brightspot was that Tom Hazen had the MAHC nametags done and was
handing them out. He will continue
to bring them to events, so be sure to come and claim your new beautiful
multicolor means of identification!!
Attendees
included Tom Hazen, John Snyder, Jack Stein, Mike Martin, Dave Lee, Greg
Lauser, Chuck Norton, Jeff Maynard, Gary Ronning, Dan Wolters, Andy
Lindberg, Steve Chirpich, Curt Carlson, & Scott McQueen.
Happy Holidays to All !!
