The Wine & Cheese Party On
Saturday January 25th, a happy bunch of Healey Club Members
gathered at Dick Mathews home for an afternoon of tasting the products of
the grape along with a delightful array of edibles. There were smooth white
wines and robust reds! Foods
included cheeses, salads, and other delicious appetizers. It was a bright
shiny day, and Dick’s large windows let it all shine in. On
the table were some books and literature to browse through. Also some video action took place. Mostly, however, people just wanted to
visit with each other, taste the offerings, and enjoy Dick’s lovely
home. Attending were the following
“single” guys – Tom Hazen, Dick Mathews, Curt Carlson, Dave Lee, Keith
Beseke, Andy Lindberg, Georgio Rossi, and Steve Rixen. The “couples” who came included Dale
& Barb Martin, Dave & Kim Meek, Chuck & Jean Norton, Gary &
Barb Ronning, Dan & Alycia Wolters, Geoff & Diane Rossi, Greg &
Nancy Lauser, Jim Johnson & Julie Norwal, and Jack & Fran Stein. Jim
Johnson & Julie Norwal brought some interesting pictures of German
Nurburgring races from the late 1950’s.
They were of a Gran Prix Race, and some of the cars were hard to
identify. Naturally Dick had the
models and history of the obscure cars stored in his memory bank which he carries with him at all times!
The
party began at about 2:30, ended right about 6:00 p.m., and people went
home smiling. It was such a
successful event that Dick said he would consider doing it again next
